When deciding on a travel company for our Greenland adventure, I chose Greenland Travel. Why? Their unparalleled expertise and deep-rooted connections within Greenland set them apart. Specializing in Greenland for decades, they offer an authentic and insightful experience that’s hard to match. Here is why planning our trip with Greenland Travel ensured an extraordinary and unforgettable journey, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Greenland Travel is unique

Owned by the Greenlandic government, Greenland Travel isn’t just any travel agency. Their unique ownership structure means that profits benefit the local economy and support sustainable development in Greenland. They emphasize responsible tourism, ensuring that the natural environment is preserved, and the traditions of the Greenlandic people are respected. In an era where tourism often harms beautiful destinations, this approach is crucial and aligns perfectly with our family values.

As part of the Air Greenland Group, which includes Air Greenland, Hotel Arctic, World of Greenland, and Arctic Excursions, Greenland Travel is an IATA certified agency that offers a vast network of local partners. With over 35 years of experience, they are passionate, ethical, dedicated, respectful, and deeply committed to Greenland and their customers.

With Greenland Travel’s structure and stellar reputation, I was confident they could deliver exactly what we were looking for.

Greenland Travel really knows Greenland

One of the standout reasons I chose Greenland Travel was their deep knowledge of Greenland. Leading trips long before Arctic destinations became trendy, their expertise gives access to the most authentic experiences. Their team of local experts and seasoned professionals has an intimate understanding of Greenland’s geography, culture, and hidden gems, offering tailored adventures others can’t match. Additionally, the guides at Greenland Travel play a crucial role in delivering a magical and individualized experience. Each guide either lives in Greenland or has spent significant time exploring and leading tours across the region. Their deep understanding of the land, its history, and, navigation ensures an exceptional and insightful journey for every traveler.

Our guide, Gert, was exceptional. His extensive knowledge of local culture and history enriched our trip, making us feel safe and well cared for. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and attentive, adding a layer of understanding to our journey.

Greenland Travel designs carefully curated tours

Greenland Travel offers meticulously curated tours that cater to diverse interests, making it easy to explore and enjoy Greenland’s wonders. With so much to see and do in this breathtaking location, they choose the best experiences Greenland has to offer for their package tours. Whether you crave thrilling adventures like glacier hiking, dog sledding, and kayaking or more tranquil explorations like fjord cruises and cultural encounters in Inuit villages, you will find the perfect tour to suit your preferences.

We opted for the Great Greenland Roundtrip, a 15-day summer journey from South to North Greenland. We wanted a trip that immersed us in the true essence of Greenland, travelling by land, air, and sea, rather than the cruise ship experience many choose when touring Greenland. Our journey took us to bustling cities, majestic ice fjords, charming villages, and pristine wilderness and exceeded all expectations.

Whether you choose a weekend among icebergs or celebrate the New Year under the Aurora Borealis, Greenland Travel ensures every detail is thoughtfully considered for an exceptional experience.

Greenland Travel offers a broad range of options

Greenland Travel boasts the world’s largest selection of trips to Greenland, ensuring that every traveler can find their perfect adventure. They even craft specialized trips tailored to your interests, with local experts working closely with you to create a personalized itinerary that highlights the aspects of Greenland you are most passionate about. This ensures your adventure is both exclusive and deeply enriching.

Their tours, which last between 4 to 15 days, either use single cities as bases or cover multiple destinations. Available year-round, these tours depart from Copenhagen, Reykjavik, Nuuk, or Billund, and typically feature small groups catering to adventure seekers, couples, families, and multigenerational groups. Tours traverse the capital, larger cities, smaller towns, traditional villages, sheep farms, and remote wilderness. Accommodations vary from tents and igloos to cabins, guesthouses and hotels, offering options from simple to more luxurious. There is no shortage of activities to choose from including hiking, kayaking, whale watching fishing, boat tours, cultural visits to Inuit villages, wildlife safaris, dog sledding, glacier tours, snowmobiling, helicopter tours, museum and historical site visits, and camping.

On our Great Greenland Roundtrip tour, we loved the range of activities and diversity of accommodations. We hiked, cruised, fished for our dinner, viewed majestic whales, visited sled dogs, explored historic sites, conversed with locals, and so much more. We particularly enjoyed our cozy cabin at Eqi lodge with unapparelled views of the majestic Eqi Glacier and our modern cabin at the remote Illimanaq Lodge, which offered a front-row view of the mesmerizing beauty of Disko Bay.

Our tour perfectly balanced group activities and personal time, giving us the chance to meet people and share experiences, while still allowing for individual preferences. Some participants chose to relax instead of joining activities or spent an evening on a personal outing rather than joining the group for dinner. Our diverse group of 11 people from 5 countries, aged 10 to 72, had an incredible time together. We bonded over our adventures and made friendships that will last a lifetime.
