Greenland Autumn Exploration
8 days around Nuuk and Ilulissat
Greenland is incredibly beautiful, no matter which season you choose to visit. The autumn is calm and peaceful after a short, hectic summer so you will have it more or less to yourself – together with the locals, of course.
The autumn is also a time when nature likes to reveal all its different sides – from stunning sunny days dressing the mountains in shades of golden brown, a must-see, to forceful autumn storms that mesmerize you with their harsh beauty, but also demand proper clothing.
Northern lights in Greenland
Autumn brings black skies at night and the incredible natural phenomenon of northern lights. On a cloudless night, you have to get out there and look upwards. Greenland does not have the same level of light polution as elsewhere in the world and, combined with low humidity, it creates a crystal-clear sky, bursting with a myriad of stars and a stunning, clear Milky Way to be seen far above.
Old meets new in Nuuk
Nuuk is a modern Arctic capital with lots of culture, history, sailing, and nature. There are many experiences to be had both in the city center and the beautiful fjords in Nuuk’s hinterland. You get to try a little bit of everything!
UNESCO World Heritage in Ilulissat
The next stop on the trip is Ilulissat, famous for the Ilulissat Ice Fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004 and an unforgettable natural phenomenon producing icebergs in all shapes and sizes.
